Cat politics

Commonly called, getting in bed together :-)
I'd had my bath, and was sitting up in bed reading about Eastern philosophy (no, really!). Boofy has a set routine at my bed time: turn up, check out the cat TV in the window, munch some crackles, slurp some water, then clamber on me. If G's in bed, settle down between us, if not, settle down between me and the edge of the bed. (That's my left side when I'm face-up, and I've no idea why he doesn't try to annex G's half of the bed when it is empty!)
So, Boofy was snuggled against my left hip, I was propped up reading in bed, G was still in the bath.
Then Wong! turned up. Uh-oh. We'd decided to let him 'stay out' since it wasn't 'a school night'. I watched for the confrontation.
Mr Pointy simply jumped on G's side, and snuggled into the crook of my right arm. No fuss, a little purring, B looks up briefly and goes back to sleep. P goes to sleep.
I'm completely stuck, wedged in place by two cats, stapled to the bed by them and the duvet, immobilized by the extreme cuteness.
I've never see P so quiet, or still. He hardly moved or made noise the whole night, except to stretch, turn around, snuggle under the covers, and purr. No Wong!ing. No charging about. No bugging B.
Meanwhile, B did his usual pre-dawn rekkie, to check out cat TV, crackles and water - and then came back and, purring, settled down again - this time, half as close again to P since G was now in bed and the B algorithm required Boofy to settle down between G & I.
A perfect scene of domestic bliss, in fact. And this despite B bopping P on the head, and P bopping B on the bum, several times last evening. Wow! Such good cats!
Wong! is sitting on my lap as I type, purring and statuesque. I've filked a new song in his honour:
"Girl, I want to be with you all of the time,
All day, and all of the night!
(All day, and all of the night!)
The only time I feel OK is on your lap!
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time..."
(Of course, for 'on your lap' substitute also 'head', 'chest', and 'pushed into your armpit'!!)
Off for OU day school now - should be the last one before I qualify :-)

Date: 2006-03-04 09:33 am (UTC)Was it as cold where you are as it was for us last night. I would imagine that both Wong! and Boofy are showing their simple plain good cat-sense when it comes to choosing between conflict and eviction from warm bed or warm bed and A & G snugglage.
Good luck with the OU!
PS - is it my daft browser or do your comment boxes have REALLY teeny tiny point size type?

Does sound like a browser issue.
Hmmm - and Exploder doesn't seem to be letting me type in the username to login, and then corrupts my posting when it asks for the bottest... This is
