Le weekend
I've had a great one, modulo only that it left out important people like my kitties ...
Smooth train journey down to The Biggest Smoke, met up with friends as planned. We checked out the new Wholefoods supermarket - too much packaging and 'triumph of presentation over function' for my taste, but there you go. Bought lambic rye bread, large flat mushrooms and garlic-stuffed olives at Borough Market. Made my way home to Chez D via the 'druids' (don't ask ;-) organic shop - bought cotton tofu, pine nuts, unfortunately salty sundried tomatoes, muesli makings, UK grown mixed salad leaves and alfafa sprouts. D & I collaborated to whip up a very tasty meal drawing on these ingredients - mushrooms sweated down, served with home-made mixed leaf and sun-dried tomato pesto, with hunks of bread and fresh salad. All judiciously enlivened by whatI think was the very first colour episode of the (Mrs Peel) Avengers (w00t! :-)
Saturday, we foraged along the New River Path in Islington with
ewtikins and friends, in fine weather. Want to learn pots more about free living plants! :-) Much good schmoozing in The Best Pub in the Universe afterward, and then an interesting vegan meal at a Tai Buffet cafe. The fake beef was ... extremely disconcerting to look at ... and there weren't anywhere near enough vegetables!
Sunday, the laziest morning I've had in, like, forever. I finally saw the final 'British Resistance' episode of 'The Real Dads Army' series, thanks to D. Then we mooched around the refurbished and slightly misnamed Museum of Childhood after lunch - toys and clothes, but very little of the childs-eye view of life, I felt. Then more quality schmoozing back at TBPitU, and an early night, so D could get a flying start this morning.
Today, a very fine vegan lunch shared, smooth journey home, a top quality nap, and then G arrived, and another Due South episode and kitty love and ... it's all good :-)
