I use it although I'd describe myself as a light user. Quality is better than skype although I've also changed my PC and haven't tried skype with my new hardware I may be blaming the crappy call quality I was seeing with skype on my old steam driven PC. My biggest problems with skype were calling out, my mumbling was barely understandable and I had to resort to using a real telephone.
I'm primarily a linux user and haven't tried the windows version - the linux Gizmo client seems to work pretty well - it as a simple install on kubuntu (ubuntu breezy badger based) and should be fairly straight forward on any other debian based Linux installation.
Thanks! I had my first real Skype conversation the other day, using D's Logitech headset microphone, and the quality seemed fine (to Ireland, around 18:30).
I will go back to being primarily a Linux user as soon as I'm finished with my PGCE. I think G most recently installed a Debian flavour on my Linux box, but it's months since I used it...
