Clegg must force vote reform.

I think Mr Clegg has only one choice to ensure the future of the LibDems as a credible force in UK politics: make getting full electoral reform in place the deal-make-or-break in this hung parliament:

It's expressed really well by in this comment:

I think one of the worst scenarios is if the Lib Dems agree to put the matter of electoral reform to a referendum. Sadly, I can't see any way that a simple majority of an inherently change-averse population would vote in favour of a move to PR. Conversly, not having a referndum about it feels somehow wrong.

I don't think so. I just think we've been brainwashed into thinking we have to have a referendum. If people hate the new system, they'll all vote Tory... You're right. If there's a referendum, it will be defeated. No doubt. Lord Ashcroft will play some big part in that.

Not from the number of people I've heard say they voted LibDem because this would bring PR forward. I believe the media - particularly the right wing press - is only now coming to terms with just how great the pressure for change has become.
