Power Down?
Dec. 2nd, 2004 01:05 pmI've recently been reading much more non-fiction, and historical social fiction*, than I have science fiction. However, I'm currently reading "Powerdown" by Richard Heinberg (who lectures at the 'alternative' New College of California), a discussion of the possible consequences of global resource depletion. Heinberg takes as his starting point his belief that humanity has over-shot Earth's long-term carrying capacity, and depleted non-renewable resource reserves, to the extent that significant global social change is now inevitable.
