Running commentary...
Nov. 21st, 2002 07:46 amI'm a bit happier with things at work, but I'm still pursuing the question of joining the appropriate trades union.
My host has started a new assignment, and now has to leave for work at 06:45. This fits in perfectly with my natural instincts, because we're turning in around 21:00 to achieve that early start :-)
Hopefully, got a lovely weekend with my favourite people in prospect - we're going away to what ought to be a stunning self-catering 'cottage' in the Derbyshire Dales (it can sleep up to 12 people, and is fully modernized), and we'll be visiting the Hockerton Housing Project earth-sheltered house development near Nottingham for a technical tour. We are all contemplating building our own 'semi-autonomous' homes - not exactly ecohouses, nor exactly self-sufficient, but we all very much like the idea of low-maintenance, efficient homes which we've designed ourselves, to grow old in.
It would be good to be 'insulated' from spasms in the world oil market. The BBC Radio 4 'Today' programme news team have been discussing the likely impact of any war in Iraq on the world economy: war is always far more expensive than expected.
Time is running out for people in the UK to comment on the UK national Consultation on the Future of Air Transport to 2030. In my opinion, the airport expansion plans presented are economically seriously flawed, because they neglect the strong sensitivity of demand for leisure travel on air fares, and ignore the likelihood that air fares will have to rise significantly over the next 30 years.
Now, some more work on my CV, and my consultation response...
