The local joker is eating from the bird-proof squirrel feeder again. It fell off yesterday, but being a squirrel, it caught the pole upside-down and was back to feeding in no time flat.

Mater continues to recover from the weekend crisis. She's enjoyed a normal breakfast, although she said it took quite an effort to swallow the food and water.

The new doctor is due to make his house-call to us at 10:30, so I've been doing some background reading and making some notes. Mater would like me in the background as an ally during the consultation, but as ever I must strive to keep my bleedin' mouth shut unless she asks me to contribute :-)

D is safely back in the UK, and has survived my initial mind-dump whilst waiting in baggage reclaim!

G made it to Ireland eventually, 4 hours late, and with only 1 hour of working time. D & G are both still due home to me on Thursday night (yes, feast-and-famine, it's the way of these things.)

Squirrels! Well at least the little raider is providing entertainment.

Glad to hear that Mater seems to be improving. Good luck to you both with the doctor's consult! The whole keeping schtumm unless called on thing is very hard.

I see the feeder whenever I look up from the computer :-) Actually, there's a lot of birds using it too - from blue tits and great tits to pigeons (and other small birds which I've not yet identified).

Mater often prefers to let me say things - we talk things over together in private, and she gets very agitated around doctors. My doctor knows me rather well, and so sometimes talks to me when perhaps he and I should both give Mater more time to think. We'll have to see how the new doctor deals with the dynamic.

Here's hoping s/he's got the smarts to recognize the dynamic, not mistaking it for some other.

Or, as happened once with me and [livejournal.com profile] dear_hubby's dad, the medic (a specialist) tried a "divide and conquer" strategy, and in her waiting room, too. She got it right back from me: "You don't think we talk about this extensively at home? These are his wishes, which I'm doing my best to advocate. Shame on you taking advantage of his deafness." Or some such, it was a long time ago.

Crazy(and trying not to have a flashback - more good luck wishes from me)Soph

He seemed to do OK.

Sorry to almost give you a flashback!

Bird/squirrel feeders are way better than TV, though ours is being raided by a magpie at the moment and is emptied by 11 am. most mornings. I would get more cross with it but it is so funny to see it flapping and trying to hover so it can clean out the fat snack half coconut shell. While it's eating that it's not raiding the songbird nests I guess.

I wish I could train the Flooger to hunt colour-coded food ... black-and-white birds!

Hmmmm... I seem to recall that cats don't have colour vision, so all food is black and white (or at least grey...)

I often wished in the past that I'd had a calm, well-read, articulate advocate with me when I went to the doc's. Nowadays I rarely go, and I have a fabulous doctor, but there have been times when I would have given my right arm to have someone there with me. I'm glad your mother's got you to lean on.

And both the boys home! How lovely :)

It is good when you put it like that :-)
