Have Bush or Blair given direct, simple responses to this statement? Not pious hopes, or blind assertions, but engaging with the direct question of how their decisions as world leaders will directly affect the balance of costs and benefits to the people of Iraq and surrounding regions. From here, it looks like a cost that Blair may pay is the loss of his leadership of Labour if war proceeds without further UN approval... I wish I could say something similar regarding Bush, but he wasn't elected anyway.

Hmm. Due to lack of party political awareness, I can't really comment on how likely it is that Blair might get de-selected as UK Labour Party leader. I can only dream...
