My life may be about to do that thing like a wind-up gramophone being given a crank just in time: I have scheduled my second PGCE interview for Wed 17 Dec. I'm now mobile enough to get into the Central Library and do some homework on teaching secondary science. Part of me is still very dubious about the whole idea of teaching in school, but several aspects of me are quite excited about the idea of teaching (not necessarily school pupils).

Also, a pointed telephone call to the MRI department - mentioning that it is nearly 3 years since my original referral, and I was promised that I would be seen before the end of this year, but mostly emphasising that I want to start donating platelets and only need a clear MRI scan to do so - has shaken loose a cancellation. So, I will be having my MRI - intended to check for Meniere's disease and audio neuropathy - tomorrow afternoon at 16:00 GMT. It is only going to last 7 minutes, so I probably won't need a CD walkman... Yes, I'm a little nervous.

My next physiotherapy appointment - two buildings down from the MRI department - will be a week on Tuesday. My exercises are improving my gait, but my range of motion seems to have stalled. Hmmm... I'd better do another repetition before I go out again.

SK is slowly recovering from the bout of digestive tract rebellion - still subdued, with poor appetite, and unco-operative stomach and guts, unfortunately, but a little closer to normal each day. However, the round of oral rehydration, anti-nausea tablets, vanillla-flavour kaolin and morphine by syringe to mouth, steroid tablets, and special, rather unappetising 'concrete' food, is starting to seem very onerous from my view of how a poor little cat might feel. We will all be seeing the vet on Wednesday evening, for a full review of the situation. I'm going to need a lot of persuading that we should consider continuing chemotherapy even if and when SK is fully recovered from these side-effects. Even if there's nothing else to be done for SK...

Returning to the good news, [livejournal.com profile] purplecthulhu is returning home tomorrow, after a triumphant month away :-)

It sounds like an awful lot is happening for you lately, some good, some bad, but all intense. Good luck navigating that (and especially with the job prospect!).

I suppose it is quite a lot - I seem to have spent a lot of time resting my leg, but with my thoughts in a whirl... I'm most upset and stressed about SK :-(
