"It's a mind-boggling disaster epic that draws its special power from the fact that we are both the villains and victims of the story."
"[Y]ou don't need to like Gore, or trust him, or even believe him to get a swift kick in the pants, one that'll scare the hell out of you..."

Experiment 1 - Take Mater on a direct bus to N's. Potential complications (1) Only once per 30 mins, so need to wait. (2) Strange route. Outcome - success, moderate anxiety but moderate success with coping mechanisms.
Experiment 2 - Take Mater to a new lunch spot - the Chinese 'all you can eat' buffet near N's. Points to note: Buffet-style, so no waiting for food. Outcome - result! Much food enjoyed.
Experiment 3 - Take Mater to the allotment. Outcome - she seemed content to watch me weed for an hour, and showed interest in the asparagus berries, strawberry runners, etc. Good.
Experiment 4 - Take Mater to N's for the afternoon. Outcome - a pleasant hour.
Sadly, Expt 4 had to to be terminated early, at 4pm. Mater knows when the reception closes at the hospital, and it's a trigger point for her. So I spent two hours getting her, and then me, 'home' during rush hour.
Am tired now. No more hard stuff until Monday...
