Another day, another hurdle

a.m. Spend somewhat longer than sensible in preparations for my second interview on Thursday.

Good lunch, centred on the last of G's broccoli soup from the weekend.

p.m. Set Mater up with a 'flight plan' to meet me at 'the other railway station' to pay her rent for May. Result! Numerous incremental steps forward, of which my favourite is something I do that frequently bamboozles till operators: Mater bought some things that came to UKP3.52, so handed over a fiver and 52p in coins, to get two nice chunky one pound coins in change :-)))

Glorious walking back: the last of the bluebells and lilac, horse chestnuts in full bloom all over, my first red may blossoms of the year, racing-green holly sporting both berries and flowers, rowan budding, perfect apple blossoms (just one cluster of cherry-red buds still visible on that tree), a huge copper beech just into leaf, and golden dandelions glowing everywhere.

Good evening

I made a rather fine Thai-style red coconut vegetable curry from scratch (G confirms this :-) and we chilled out in front of a rather good episode from S7 Stargate SG1, 'Fallout'. Then we pottered to the bottle-bank to hide the evidence of any alcoholic excesses of the weekend, the setting sun in our faces, and an almost full moon to our backs. Wonderful light on the horse-chestnuts, and good nattering.

Back home, I watered everything and fed the bay with some very strong coffee dregs (diluted down), whilst G tidied the kitchen.
