This has been a very mixed week, personally, and politically.

Tony Blair seems to have found 'his Poll Tax' with the ID card/database issue. From No2ID: 'As the ID card bill moves back to the Lords once again [on Mon 6 March] you can ... write to any Lords with whom you may have a connection. A list of Lords with e-mail addresses can be found at http://www.parliament-square.org.uk/lobby.htm#email. Lords can also be written to by post at the House of Lords, London SW1A 0PW. Most male peers (except Dukes and Archbishops, who should be addressed as "Your Grace") should be addressed as "My Lord"; all female peers simply as "Dear Lady [surname]". Dukes and Archbishops ".

[livejournal.com profile] fjm is courageously exploring the implications of UK legislation concerning the so-called 'glorification of terrorism'.

The world seems no nearer to real freedom of speech.

Hospitals and ill health seem to surround me.

But G, D & I, and B&P, have managed to have some good times...

Boofy and Pointy went out together (on leads) for a potter around the garden. B did the usual; P was very vocally confused, but is starting to explore. Later, B cornered P a few times and boxed toward P's gigantic ears - probably a useful dominance play. Now, B's asleep in his favourite day-time location against D's pillows, and P's curled up against G's posterior :-)

I was just thinking this week that the glorification of terror nonsense is his "oxygen of publicity" moment, like when Thatcher stopped the news media from showing IRA spokesmen speaking their own words (I can't remember how she did it, legally)

Very easily, as I recall, even though it was one of her dumber ideas.

It's not as if he's broken his manifesto promise not to make them compulsory, is it? Just if you want a passport or a driving licence, which is entirely different.
