Solid technical class with Big Sensei - only the second one since August. I was better able to pace myself as I was the odd student (only have to pick yourself off the floor half as much!).
We started at the beginning: ikkyo, nikyo, sankyo. I am out of practice at really seeing what Sensei is doing, back at the 'Gosh - impressive blur' stage again :-( We've only practiced ikkyo since I've been back, too. As Sensei wanted us to be demonstrating the technical differences between omoto/irimi and ura/tenkan, I was a bit cr*p physically. But Sensei slowed it down for us, and in the end I could correctly describe aihanme katatedori uchi-kaiten irimi nage as demonstrated (irimi-tenkan three times, then irimi (and don't mention Steven Seagull! :-)
I was a little more 'mobile' this week, not quite so heavily 'rooted to the mat' as I usually am. My knees definitely feel 'less weak', all the physiotherapy (including long walks) is producing dividends. My stamina is improving too.
At one point, Sensei said something like, "It's essential that you're clear in your practice, you need to demonstrate technical understanding if you are ..." (and I swear he looked straight at me) " ... GRADING". Can't be imminent given my recent return from convalescence, but there's usually a grading in October, I think... At the end, Sensei made a point of asking me if I'd enjoyed the class - I hope my sincerity came through in my reply, "Oh, YES!" :-)
