I needed to wash my hair this morning. But my hair was coming out in chunks again because of the thyroid flare-up last Autumn. And I wanted a hot, steamy shower to sooth my sinuses - can't take pseudoephadrine because of the thyroid, and Olpas oil is good but not miraculous. Put it all together and what do you get? An ideal time to re-invigorate my hair by shaving the lot off* then showering for the soothing of the sinuses and the removal of the hair trimmings ... with the bonus of hair washed using only 1% of the shampoo otherwise needed.

Result!

But that's all my energy and brains for the day, so I'm crawling back to bed with warm kittens now ...

* No 8+ so not the full GI Jane, but still :-)

If you've gone for a major hair cut, now might be a good time to try to eliminate shampoo from your life. If you go without shampoo for 4-6 weeks, your hair will stabilise and never need shampoo ever again. Just wash with water and it will look lovely.

I haven't used shampoo or conditioner for nearly a decade - and my hair is great!

(I notice they're now warning pregnant women to cut back on cosmetics and shampoo - makes you think...)

No 'poo.

Good point. I keep my use of cosmetics and toiletries minimal, anyhow - no make up, plain aqueous cream if my skin gets dry, plain vegetable oil soap for washing etc. My shampoo is either Lush brand or Faith in Nature brand, depending.

Apart from washing my hands (where there's a clear need to prevent bacteria spreading), I've also eliminated soap. My skin is very happy (and soft and smooth)

It seems as if I have to wash my hands a lot at the moment - after gardening, cleaning up after cats, shared cooking at work etc. A few crevices, such as between my toes, also need more than plain water to clean.

I love bicarb for a good scrub - effective, but very gentle.

Sorry you're short of spoons. Glad you're allocating them appropriately :)
