What are plans, anyhow?
Oct. 24th, 2003 08:13 pmIn a slight change of plan, I woke up in a state which at least one of my gentle readers will understand: codeine hangover. On the advice of the nurse and doctor in A&E, I took a full dose of co-codamol (paracetamol and codeine) at bedtime, even though I know that it hits me hard. So, I slept well! But when I got up this morning to relieve myself (let's raise a cheer for ground-floor WCs!), I felt so dizzy that I was almost sick. I've been asleep, with a little WK on my tummy, for most of the day - because I could hardly keep my eyes open or focus to read.
G&D got me three small meals, which I could eat, and which are all I need with no exercise! Finally, this evening, my wits are returning to me...
So, instead of struggling to the clinic in a taxi, with my head spinning and the threat of barfage, I rescheduled for Monday morning, when G will be able to drive me. I won't be taking any more of those drugs unless the pain is too much for ibuprofen!
I spoke to D's father, who is a retired GP, and was re-assured that I was right to wait a few days before deciding whether to be put in plaster. The X-ray was clear of any bony damage, I'm well strapped up in wool and crepe, I've got my foot elevated (the hospital forgot to tell me to do that...), and we can re-assess the situation on Monday morning.
So, my main problem now is that I've been lying in this bed for 24 hours, and my back is a bit stiff! Not much to worry about, then...
Oh, and SK has put on weight - from a minimum of about 3.7kg, up to 3.95 kg today! - and is doing well in the blood cell department. So, another chemotherapy injection administered, and two-thirds of the normal one day allowance of post-op high-energy [A/D, or "Weight Gain 4000! Beefcake!!!"] food eaten in 2 hours. Along with a meal of ordinary cat food. Plus breakfast. I think SK has a good appetite again :-) And nothing's bounced...
