Back to School!

Today is the first day of school (for the place where I'm doing my teaching practice). The weather is fresher, the conkers are falling, and somehow, I'm more motivated now it isn't August :-)

It's that magic September feeling that we never grow out of even with no contact with the educational system. I've started new things in September for years purely 'cos it's when new things should start.

And conkers. I miss them. I have explained the game to Americans, and even provided evidence in the form of websites to prove I'm not just yanking their chains. They simply find it bizarre. I have pointed out that it's nowhere near as bizarre as the Superbowl, but this does not seem to have any impact whatsoever.
