A couple of sites I visit regularly don't work without javascript enabled. As a backup without having to resort to IE (not an easy option at home on Linux) I find Opera (http://www.opera.com/download/) does a good job although not strictly free however the adds on the free version only occupy a tiny amount of screen space.
The main changes are security fixes, actually checking now only the English english version has been updated, English (British) will follow along soon I hope.
Download here (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all), click that update Icon or force an update check (Tools, Options, Advanced, Sotware Update, Check now - you can't miss it). (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.4.html) ()
British English is English English :-) So I presume you mean American English, rather than Canadian English, or Jamaican English or Indian English or...
And if you need java script.....
