Statements like Blair's comment about the LibDems being both right and left really emphasises the fact that the old left-right divide is far too simplistic for today's politics. Its time that the politicians and the media woke up to this.
And if he resigned tomorrow, would things really be any different under Gordon Brown (even assuming Brown gets it, which is not the cast iron cert some see it as)?

Mostly, I want to smack him all the time. I'm quite sure he listened – with his fingers in his ears and while humming loudly, and living on the same planet as Jeff Hoon, who incredibly claimed that Iraq was never an issue on the doorstep when he was canvassing (you have to admire the vetting job his minders did, then).
