Calling UK citizens and residents
May. 20th, 2005 08:08 amPolls suggest that millions oppose being numbered, fingerprinted and assigned a state identity. Knowing the likely cost, over 30% think ID cards are a bad idea - remember, only 22% voted Labour.
The UK Government is planning to rush ID cards through Parliament. The proposed legislation is deeply flawed. The Conservative Party says that Labour is yet to prove that the proposal has clearly defined and achievable objectives, which the Home Office can implement cost-effectively without unwarrented invasion of privacy. Current cost estimates range up to UKP 5.5 billion.
If you have any reservations about the current Identity Cards Bill, I invite you to sign:

Remember, time may be very short. You can also express your opinions by writing to your MP, to the Home Office and to Tony Blair, and by joining No2ID.
