Official Job-hunt Re-launch!
Jul. 16th, 2002 06:30 pmGreetings to the World!
It has occured to me that I've rather been lurking in the shadows here on LiveJournal, and now I feel inspired to spring `into the light' (why, yes, I have been watching early `Buffy' and `Angel' episodes on DVD the past few evenings, thank you! :-)
Having been made redundant last December, and still being `on the prowl' for a new job now it is July, I have recently decided to `re-launch' my job-hunt. I have been looking for `something similarish' in `roughly the same geographical area', and that doesn't seem to have been working. So, now I'm starting to think more radical thoughts, and comments on these would be welcome...
For a whole host of personal reasons, I'm keen to re-locate to the West Midlands (ideally, the Well's Green area of South East Birmingham/North Solihull). I'm doing a What Colo(u)r Is Your Parachute' life-changing career change, looking to transfer all my skills (which include mathematical, analytic, IT, communication and organizational skills) from academia into the Real World (TM). I'm starting to suspect that, personality-wise, I'm most suited to quirky, small, innovative organizations - I'm interested in particularly effective uses of technology, international development, sustainable agriculture, widening access to education, and problem-solving generally. I'm hunting around for organizations and job which fit around this mix, and I've started both applying for such jobs, and also, making contact with interesting organizations even if they are not hiring right now.
So, any and all polite/constructive suggestions, gratefully received...
