Apparently, the Canadian Federal Government is likely to challenge the ruling on gay marriages made by the Ontario Court of Appeals recently. I'm told that (as well as by marrying a same-sex partner!) Canadian voters can show their support for same-sex marriage legislation by writing to:

4) Their local MP To reach your MP (and find out who your local MP is), you can phone Elections Canada toll-free at 1-800-463-6868 (or visit www.parl.gc.ca) or write to them at:

Egale Canada have a sample letter (but you will make much more impact if you write your own letter), and samesexmarriage.ca have more information (including comments on Ralph Klein and Alberta, and legal advice that non-Canadian visitors to Ontario can apply to marry there.)

Canadian Gov't will introduce bill to legalise gay marriage
Date: 2003-06-18 10:01 am (UTC)"and there was much rejoicing".
Which is as it should be - I must confess that I prefer it when lawmakers make law rather than judges ;-)
