I'm reasonably happy with the election results, despite not being able to vote myself, and despite Labour retaining power. Of course, we still suffer with our First Past The Post system: Seats are currently 351:191:59 (with about 30 left to declare) where votes were approximately 223:203:139 which would be a heavily hung parliament.

The turnout is slightly up overall, at about 60% - but up by 5% in some key fights.

During the one-before-the-last general election, I was still living in the Netherlands, and there was a huge amount of buzz about a hung parliament. I was speaking with friends in Dutch, and since I didn't know, I asked, "What's the Dutch word or expression for 'hung parliament'?"

My friend spoke the individual syllables, as if to someone of half-wit: "Co-a-li-tie."

Ooops. *blush* But of course, was the only proper response.

Crazy(the Dutch were rather amused by UK politics, I wonder if that's still the case...)Soph

Which must be, 'coalition'. I'm sure they are still amused.

Beautiful kitty-pic! :-)

Cheers for the compliment. The Terrible Trinity rarely take pictures, but Hop and Skip at least can be relied upon for fun photos.
